Body Awareness Meditation: The First Step Toward Self-Healing

Before healing others, first get to know your own home.

In Healer Class 1 Training, the first practice we teach is not a complex technique, but learning to become still, listen inwardly, and receive with awareness.

Why the body?

The body is our first home. It carries the memories, emotions, and experiences we have gathered along the way. By becoming still and attentive to ourselves, we learn to recognize what we carry, surrender what we cannot carry alone, and make room for grace.

A simple way to get started

  1. Sit or lie down comfortably, and allow yourself to become still.
  2. Close your eyes and take a few slow, gentle breaths. Let go of the need to rush.
  3. Bring your attention to your head, then slowly move downward, through your neck, shoulders, arms, chest, abdomen, and finally your legs.
  4. There is nothing you need to fix or force. Simply observe, and allow yourself to be present with what is.
  5. If your mind wanders, gently bring it back. Do not judge yourself. Be still, breathe, and allow grace to meet you where you are.

Five minutes a day is enough to start; consistency is far more important than duration.

What you will experience

Over time, you begin to recognize how emotions can show up in the body: shoulders tightening with anxiety, a knot in the stomach when afraid. This is part of learning the language of the body. As you become still and attentive to your own, you develop a deeper capacity to notice others with compassion, humility, and grace.
